ARTIST’S STATEMENT

With a wide range of influences from nature to architecture, my ceramics attempt to explore many of the sculptural possibilities of utilitarian objects. My intent is to investigate the complexities of form and surface and to create pieces that engage the mind and heart, pushing the boundaries of functionalism and art. My interest is primarily in the form, its ambiguities and its functional illusions with the surface treatment inherent to the form.

ABOUT THE WORK

Although a potter, Warren does not throw on a wheel, but describes his method as sculptural hand-building. His pieces are handmade and are primarily intended for decorative purposes. Because he
utilizes low-fire clay and glazes, these pieces are not food safe and may or may not hold water. They are best cleaned by blowing on them with canned air or by dipping them in water and letting them air dry.
