ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I was born in Samut Songkharm, Thailand in 1959. After getting BFA in Product Design from Silapakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1982, I came to the United States. In 1987 I received MFA in Ceramics from Otis College of Art and Design and then taught on the faculty of Otis from 1990 – 1996.
Well-known for my distinctive style, I have exhibited both nationally and internationally. My work can be found in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan, and Ichon World Ceramic Center in Korea. Now I live and maintain a productive studio in Los Angeles, California.
Construction and the graphic arts are my main focus. I have been using geometric shapes and patterns to integrate techniques and ideas, while focusing on the simplicity of curved and straight lines, designs and colors.
Being determined and preferring not to compromise encourages me to move forward, come up with new forms and find unconventional ways of working with clay.
I believe that the pursuit of impeccable craftsmanship lends integrity and honesty to my work.
