ARTIST'S STATEMENT
For a number of years I have lived in the architectural diversity of Manhattan and rural simplicity of Massachusetts, and both places have influenced my work. The urban environment appeals to my interest in verticality. And in contrast, the New England countryside affects me by way of contrast and change. Anticipating the emergence of color in the spring after a neutral-toned winter, and later the different shades of fall is a significant stimulus for my work's color and form.
Process and material are primary, and I choose both according to my particular expressive needs at the time. I am drawn to basket making, intertwining myriad elements and influences to create a vessel that will hold my ideas
